Forest Glen has become a HERO Generation Pilot School! The HERO Generation program aims to teach children and teachers about social and emotional intelligence and build these skills through fun activities. We are implementing the HERO Generation program, developed by Plasticity Labs, and taking part in a research study focused on developing the traits of happier, higher performing students, teachers, staff, and communities by being a HERO and a GEM (A HERO demonstrates Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, and Optimism; a GEM demonstrates the traits of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness). In partnership with researchers at Wilfrid Laurier University, the goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of this program and understand the outcomes of building social and emotional skills. When we teach and develop these traits in ourselves and others, research shows that we tend to be happier, healthier and higher performing people at work, at school and in life in general. Please join us on this exciting journey!
